Unsettled weather set to dominate the rest of the week

There’s going to be more unsettled conditions across Suffolk and Essex for the most part of the week.

It will start to feel slightly cooler with waves of heavy rain and strong winds continuing to sweep in from the Atlantic.

Temperatures will be closer to normal to start the week but are expected to peak above normal in a south westerly flow ahead of low pressure on Tuesday.

Despite the changeable forecast the mercury will remain in the high teens centigrade between 14C and 19C with Ipswich forecasted to have highs of 20C because of warmer air pushing through the country from tropical air masses.

There is a risk of some potent winds early in the week when the aftermath of ex-Hurricane Michael crosses the Atlantic to bring a risk of gales.

Low pressure is then expected to remain dominant with a cooler north westerly airflow keeping temperatures closer to normal for the time of year,

A spokesperson for The Weather Channel said: “There does remain some uncertainty in the forecast with a number of model runs bringing the remnants of hurricane Michael into northwest Europe.

“Strong winds and rain move east across all parts through Tuesday, followed by brighter, showery weather later.

“There’s a risk of gales almost anywhere and possibly severe gales for a time. On Wednesday the winds and showers should slowly ease from the west.”
