UP to 150 people are feared dead after a plane carrying holidaymakers crashed on take-off.

The MD80 jet, which was carrying 164 passengers, including two babies, and nine crew members swerved off the runway at Madrid Airport and burst into flames.

The plane - Spanair flight JK5022 - was bound for Las Palmas in the Canary Islands.
