THE A14 has been fully reopened after two separate crashes at Newmarket.

The first happened at 1.40pm with emergency services called to the scene between junctions 38 and 37, near Snailwell.

It involved one car which overturned and left a female passenger trapped.

Firefighters cut one male driver out of the car, a blue Vauxhall Meriva, then freed a woman, believed to be in her 30s, trapped inside.

Lanes one and two were closed westbound, about one mile before J37, but have now been reopened

The second collision happened at Gazeley on the eastbound carriageway around 10 miles before Newmarket at 3.20pm.

The collision involved a Ford Ka and a Seat Ibiza.

Paramedics treated a woman, who had been trapped, with leg injuries, and a 21-year-old man for chest and leg injuries.

The air ambulance was called but both were taken to West Suffolk Hospital by land crews.

Neither were believed to be in a critical condition.
