Two vehicles crashed in a town causing roads to close as emergency services worked at the scene.

Police were called to Springlands Way, Sudbury, at around 2.50pm.

The two vehicles - a Volkswagen Polo and a black Mazda people carrier - crashed in the road.

A force spokesman said fire crews were called and a woman, who is in her sixties, had been injured.

An air ambulance landed at the scene as firefighters worked to remove the roof of one of the vehicles.

After being rescued the woman was taken to hospital with “minor injuries”.

A spokesperson for the East Anglian Air Ambulance said: “The patient was treated at the scene before she was conveyed to the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds aboard a land ambulance.”
