POLICE have today renewed their appeal for witnesses following a robbery at a village store in Laxfield.
Police were called just after 6.15am yesterday to a report that two men had pulled up outside the shop/post office in High Street, Laxfield in a vehicle.
They entered the shop and threatened a staff member with, what is believed to be, a screwdriver.
The men demanded to know where the safe was and, after entering an office, took money from a safe.
The men made off with a quantity of cash, leaving in a black VW Golf in the direction of Stradbroke.
Staff members at the shop were left shaken from the incident, but unharmed.
A vehicle, thought to be the one used by the two men, has been found abandoned in Rushbrook.
Searches are being conducted in and around the area to locate the two men.
The men are described as white, of stocky build with very short hair.
Investigations have revealed the number plates of the abandoned car were stolen from another vehicle found parked in Bickers Hill Road, Laxfield.
The car is understood to have been stolen from Northampton.
Police officers are keen to speak to anyone who was close to the post office in Bickers Hill Road – where the number plates were stolen – or where the car was abandoned in Rushbrook.
