AFTER days of heavy rain the banks of the River Gipping are bursting in Baylham and Great Blakenham.
iWitness photographer Barry Pullen, 58, of Claydon, took this dramatic photo which shows the high level of the river in mid Suffolk.
He said: “I have never seen it like this before and I’ve been here 30 years, it’s really bad. In Great Blakenham their back gardens are flooded but the railway line is fine.”
He said a footpath between Great Blakenham to Baylham was impassable because of the weather.
Meanwhile in Essex both the police and fire service have been busy following heavy rainfall.
Crews and officers have continued to attend a number of calls from across the county of people stuck in vehicles and homes and gardens flooded and roads awash.
Calls began around midday and were continuous until around 3pm when the rain dried up in many places.
The calls have been across the county but in West Horndon, near Basildon, firefighters attending an incident involving flooded homes were unable to pass through cut off areas.
A spokesman for Essex Fire and Rescue Service said the worst hit areas were Heybridge, Brentwood, Wickford, Ongar and Ingatestone.
