A man has been charged following a police pursuit in Newmarket where a car failed to stop for officers.

Darren Thurling, aged 38 years from Duck Lane, Haddenham, Ely in Cambridgeshire has been charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and without insurance and driving without a licence. The vehicle, a Volvo had been taken from an address in Soham on Sunday.

It failed to stop for officers in Hamilton Road, Newmarket at around 12.45am on Monday, but was later stopped in the village of Horringer when three people arrested.

A 32-year-old man from Ely in Cambridgeshire, who was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol and dangerous driving has been bailed to return to the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre on 30 April 2014.

No further action will be taken against a 31-year-old woman also from Ely who was arrested on suspicion of theft.

Thurling will appear at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on 9 April 2014.
