FIRE crews have rescued a man after he was spotted in the River Orwell this afternoon.
FIRE crews have rescued a man after he was spotted in the River Orwell this afternoon.
The incident happened near the bridge in Princes Street, Ipswich at 12.25pm.
Three fire crews arrived at the scene at just before 12.30pm and rescued a male believed to be about 40-years-old and from Ipswich, from the water using a throw line and then administered oxygen.
The crews, who had called for an ambulance, left at about 12.40pm.
A spokeswoman for East of England Ambulance Service said the man did not require any further medical attention and was not taken to hospital.
A spokesperson for Suffolk police said it was believed that the man had slipped on a footpath next to the river.
