Just before 8am police were called to a road crash on the A12 close to Ipswich.

A member of the public told police what had happened and said they believed no-one had been injured.

Motorists moved their cars to the side of the carriageway to allow officers to get to the crash scene.

A police spokeswoman said three vehicles had been involved, although originally it was reported as four, and one lane was closed.

The crash is on the road near the Copdock Interchange, in the Ipswich-bound direction and follows two lorries which broke down in the area.

Giving an update on the situation, a force spokesman said the crash had involved a Citroen DS, a Renault Scenic and a Volkswagen Golf.

He added: “No-one is believed to have been injured and recovery is due to clear away one of the vehicles. Traffic is being reported to be backing up.”
