The A11 southbound at Elvedon, A1065 southbound at Thetford Road and A1101 Mildenhall to Fiveways had been closed for most of the day after the lorry shed its load of scrap metal.

The incident occurred at the Fiveways roundabout between Barton Mills and Mildenhall at 5.45am.

It saw the junctions to the A11 southbound at Elvedon, A1065 southbound at Thetford Road and A1101 Mildenhall closed until 2.30pm while the vehicle was recovered, debris was cleared from the road and the road surface was checked for damage.

Fire crews from Mildenhall, Brandon and Thetford attended the incident and freed the driver, who was stuck in the cab. He was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital by ambulance with a minor head injury.

Diversion routes had been put in place via the A134, A1088 and A143 but have now been removed.
