Investigations into the discovery of a man’s body in a burnt out shed have found no evidence of arson.

Police were called at around 12.30am this morning by the fire service who reported seing what they believed was a body at the scene of a shed fire in Grange Road, Beccles. Initial enquiries have revealed that the man is thought to aged in or around his 40s and went by the name of Ray. He has been described as a vagrant who was known to travel the country and appears to have been an annual visitor to the area.

He was given permission to sleep in the shed overnight and it’s thought the likely cause of the blaze was a fire source within the building, possibly a old barbecue, that he was using.

Police are conducting enquiries to try to formally identify him and are asking anyone with information about him or his next-of-kin to call Lowestoft CID on 01986 835300.
