A fault with the signalling system between Chelmsford and Ingatestone which was causing minor delays to rail services has now been fixed.
There were delays of up to 20 minutes to trains using the stretch of track.
This follows from earlier delays caused by speed restrictions imposed due to a defective track.
Network Rail engineers had fixed the problem by 10.30am, with residual delays continuing for about an hour.
