ARMED police have surrounded a house in north west Ipswich tonight, according to an eyewitness.
The police helicopter is out in the skies earlier this evening, as officers on the ground deal with an ongoing incident in Norwich Road, close to the junction with Sherrington Road.
Details of the incident remain unclear at this stage but an eyewitness has told the Ipswich Star that armed police are at the scene.
He said: “There are armed police surrounding a property in Norwich Road opposite to the row of shops where the Emperor Pub is.
“There are four police vans and around 10 armed police officers.”
A Suffolk police spokeswoman said: “Police carried out an operation this evening at an address in Norwich Road and as a result have detained a number of people who are being brought into custody.
“Police are making ongoing enquiries at this stage and are still working at the scene.”
