THE A11 is set to re-open around 12.30am after a collision on Friday evening left two people seriously injured.

Emergency services were scrambled to the scene at Elveden at 5.45pm to reports of a collision between a black Ford Mondeo, a black Mazda and a black Ford Focus.

Police say the driver of the Ford Focus has sustained possibly life-changing neck injuries and the driver of the Mazda has received serious injuries.

Motorists have been warned to expect major delays on the A11 between Thetford and Barton Mills while the road is closed.

That stretch of the A11 is the last single carriageway section of the road, and preparatory work has begun on a 134m scheme to dual it.
