A BAR and restaurant in Bury St Edmunds is hoping to beat off competition to win the title of Britain’s best burger offer.

Benson Blakes in St John’s Street, Bury St Edmunds, is a finalist in the National Pub Food Challenge 2013, which is run by the Publican’s Morning Advertiser.

Tim Blake, who owns Benson Blakes with his father Steve, said the meat came from Meat Inn butchers and the buns from Gastrono-me, which are both nearby. He said they used fresh ingredients and did not over-complicate the burger. “It’s 100% what we say it is. We try to use the best ingredients we can.”

The winner of the best burger offer category will be announced next month.
