A NEW 139,000 skatepark has been opened in Woodbridge to the delight of youngsters.
The official opening of the facility next to Deben Swimming Pool was held on Saturday, with skateboarders and BMXers showcasing their skills on the circuit.
More than 300 people had signed a petition calling for it to be created for young people and after years of work the area has now been created.
Councillor Doreen Savage, cabinet member for young people with Suffolk Coastal District Council, said: “Woodbridge skatepark has been open to members of the public for just over a month now, and this celebratory event gave people an opportunity to appreciate what has been achieved here.”
Funding for the project has come from a range of sources including Suffolk coastal and Woodbridge town councils, Sport England, Awards for All, Woodbridge Community Council, Woodbridge School and local fundraising.
