Harley was found roaming St Clements Golf Club in Foxhall Road, Ipswich, yesterday at around 4pm.

Owners Martyn and Jemma Redfern, who live in east Ipswich, received a call from a golfer who had spotted Harley on the course after reading the Star’s appeal for the beloved pet.

Mr Redfern said: “I feel amazing. I’ve never lost a family member before – it’s very emotional.”

Mr Redfern said he and his wife were about to leave the golf course after their search initially proved fruitless, but a last-ditch attempt came up trumps and Harley came running out to meet them.

“We had a call saying they had seen him from a distance. We think he might have made friends with the muntjacs”, he said.

Harley vanished at around 8pm on Sunday evening and was last seen in the Felixstowe Road area of Ipswich.

He was being lookedafter by friends of Mr and Mrs Redfern as they were at a wedding reception.

They had covered many miles since Sunday, driving and wandering the streets looking for Harley.

Mr Redfern was worried that Harley had been stolen, adding: “He’s an entire dog, he hasn’t been neutered and there’s apparently dog-napping going on in the area.”
