TODAY’S burst of sunshine came as a welcome to relief to the rain-drenched residents of Suffolk.

Temperatures reached the heady heights of 22.5C in Cavendish today - warmer than both Nice and Rome. Making the most of the balmy temperatures, iwitnesses headed out to the county’s most popular beauty spots to soak up the sun.

Leanne Cole headed to Felixstowe and spent the day beside the sea. She sent us this photo of the beach, cast in a hazy glow.

Meanwhile, our local government reporter Paul Geater spent the day at RSPB Minsmere, where he waited patiently in the sunshine to capture this footage of a cuckoo. It was the first time he had heard the call of the cuckoo this season.

He said: “ I heard the cuckoos in a new walk that’s just been opened by the RSPB. There were deer in there along with hundreds of birds - quite magical!”

Tomorrow is expected to be another bright day, although there will still be some cloud around. By Friday, the skies should clear, making it feel even more like summer.
