HUNDREDS of people lined the streets of Stowmarket this morning as soldiers from Wattisham Airfield marched through the town.

Union Jack Flags were waved when the troops from 3 Regiment Army Air Corps paraded down Ipswich Street and congregated in the Market Place at 10.50am.

Children from the local schools, veterans and residents were all out in force to show their support for the servicemen and women as part of Armed Forces Day.

Mayor, Anne Whybrow and parade officer captain Andy Rodgers, gave speeches before the Reverend Michael Eden read a short service.

“In Stowmarket we have a long and historic connection with the forces,” said Mrs Whybrow.

“Many of those who have served and those still serving have made their homes within our community and our lives are intertwined. Today gives us an opportunity to remember and show our appreciation.”
