A COMMUNITY has celebrated the regeneration of a playing field with an opening day fair.
Residents in Aldeburgh took advantage of the glorious weather to stage a BBQ, face painting and football penalty shoot-out competition to mark the re-opening of Kemps Field on Saturday.
The town council purchased the playing area from Suffolk Coastal District Council last year and has installed play equipment there which can now be enjoyed by children in the town.
A spokesman for Aldeburgh Town Council said: “It was a long and hard task to get ownership back for Aldeburgh, however, the field has proven to be a hit with all ages.”
He added: “Some parents wondered if their children would ever get equipment on there.”
The equipment was purchased after Aldeburgh Primary School children made models of what they would like to see on the field.
A police van and a fire engine were amongst other attractions on the field for the day which the youngsters enjoyed learning about.
