Around 4,000 spring bulbs have been planted along Bury St Edmunds’ ‘river of flowers’ following a generous donation.
Adrian Bloom, from Bressingham Gardens, donated around £350 worth of bulbs for the attractive floral display at the Tollgate Triangle junction in the town.
In total, 15 bags of Scilla Siberica, 12 bags of Chionodoxa Forbesii and five bags of Narcissus Actaea were donated, and the flowers will add a splash of blue and white to the ‘river’ when they bloom.
Volunteers from Bury in Bloom, The Abbey Gardens Friends gardeners, and St Edmundsbury Borough Council staff planted the bulbs and the gave the river of flowers a winter tidy-up on Monday, November 26.
Melanie Lesser, Bury in Bloom co-ordinator, said: “We are very grateful to Adrian Bloom for donating the bulbs as they will add a lovely splash of blue and white to the ‘River’ next spring.
“The team all enjoyed planting the bulbs and giving the area a tidy-up.”
