Hundreds of foodies enjoyed the culinary treats on offer during a charity walk around Helmingham Hall in Suffolk today.
Lady Tollemache opened up her home to around 300 people for the ‘Walk with a Fork’ event in aid of East of England charity Ormiston Families, of which Lady Tollemache is president.
Walkers embarked on an eight-mile amble around the picturesque estate and indulged in tasty treats from the region’s food and drink producers at stops along the way.
The walk around the 400-acre estate featured beautiful vistas, architecture and hidden valleys not usually seen by members of the public.
Local producers along the way included The Fish Hut, which provided lunch, Suffolk Salami, Musks sausages, and St Peters Brewery. The event was sponsored by Mackenzie-David Events and Aspall.
Gavin Lamb, relationship and events manager at Ormiston Families, said: “We are delighted with the success Walk with a Fork has had over the years and today’s sell-out event has been no exception, especially in this lovely sunshine.
“The beautiful grounds of Helmingham Hall, teamed with a bracing walk and tasty treats along the way, make it a winning combination.
“It raises invaluable funds which allow us to continue our work with children, young people and families throughout the region.
“We are grateful to Lady Tollemache for having us at Helmingham Hall and our sponsors, Mackenzie-David Events and Aspall.
“We would also like to give a special thanks to our supplies who gave up their Sundays and provided delicious local produce, undoubtedly making the event the success it was.”
Other suppliers included B. Chocolates, Betty and Miller, James White Drinks, Morvend, Stokes Sauces, Hillfarm Oils, and The Cheese & Pie Man. Entertainment was provided by Kev Walford and Kelly Pritchard and Suffolk pop mash-up group, Diamond Vocal.
This year’s event has raised in excess of £6,000. Proceeds will be used to support Ormiston Families’ work, providing services to support children and young people across East Anglia, helping to improve their life chances.
