Police are investigating after an attempted armed robbery in Walton

Detectives are investigating after an attempted armed robbery at a jewellers in north Essex.

Officers were called to a jewellers in High Street, Walton, at 2.10pm today after a man threatened staff with a firearm and demanded jewellery.

When staff refused the man, who was in his early 20s and was wearing a grey hooded top, ran off empty-handed towards Alfred Terrace.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Clacton CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
