IN a break with tradition, Saffron Walden Conservatives are to advertise for candidates to contest next year's elections to Uttlesford district council. Association chairman Howard Rolfe explained: “There is a widely held perception that to become a candidate requires many years of active membership.
“We are looking for candidates who are Conservative supporters but they may never have been actively involved in the party. What is essential is they are committed to working on the council to improve the local community.”
