A NORTH Suffolk couple have vowed to rebuild their “dream home” after it was destroyed in a massive blaze.

Tom and Maria Price could only watch in horror as their thatched cottage in Denham, near Hoxne, went up in flames on Tuesday night.

More than 50 firefighters tackled the blaze, and spent most of the night damping down.

Today, Mr Price, 60, a semi-retired decorator, said: “We were so lucky to get out and the fire crews have been marvellous, they couldn't have done anything better, and our neighbours have been wonderful.”

He said they had spent around £50,000 refurbishing their house, Standwell Cottage, since they bought it in July 2005.

“We had exposed all the beams and the bathroom was my pride and joy, and now it's all gone,” he said. “But we will build it back to how it was without a doubt, we don't want to move, we love it here.”
