Wattisham weather station, the closest to Ipswich, recorded 9.6mm of rain in the same time whilst Sudbury recorded just under 13mm and Bury St. Edmunds received just over 10mm.

Woodbridge got just over 9mm but thankfully, despite the heavy downpour, things are looking up.

According to Weather Quest based at the University of East-Anglia, both the rain and cloud will clear in the east giving us all a dry end to the day with some sunshine.

The weekend is looking up as well with a sunny start to Saturday morning, some clouds will move in from the west but the temperature is likely to be at a healthy 22 to 24C with a refreshing breeze.

It will be a cloudy start to Sunday morning but it is looking just as warm with temperatures between 23 and 24C with breezes continuing throughout the day.

The afternoon could see a spatter of light rain but it’s unlikely to be heavy.
