THE THAW is well underway after weeks of freezing conditions as today’s temperatures reach highs of 5C.
But it might be a bit early to celebrate as the region wakes up to a dull, damp day with low cloud and spots of drizzle, combined with lingering mist and fog in places.
Conditions will persist throughout the day, with lows tonight of 3C and a warning of further mist and fog patches overnight.
These will clear gradually throughout the day tomorrow, leaving brighter skies and the occasional spell of sunshine, followed by a dry but cloudy night.
