The county is set to be assaulted by more wind and rain over the next few days as the recent fierce weather continues.

Although not as devastating as that on the south coast, Suffolk’s weather will continue to be “very unstable” as we move into next week.

Chris Bell, a forecaster at Norwich-based Weatherquest, said: “We’ll continue to see strong winds and heavy rain through the week.

“It’s been very windy and I think that what we’re likely to see on Friday will be similar to this with gusts of around 50mph.”

However Mr Bell added stronger gusts weren’t out of the question, especially at the end of the week.

And he also said the amount of rain falling on already saturated ground could again cause problems.

“There will be another round of rain present on Thursday afternoon and evening with around half an inch of rain possible.

“That could cause some flooding.”

Towards the middle of next week things are also going to get a bit chillier with Mr Bell saying the mild temperatures experienced so far this year could be about to end.

He said: “It’s not too cold in the short term but it could well feel colder because of the wind.

“When we get into next week we could start to be in some colder air from the north west which could bring rain mixed with sleet.

“It will get a bit colder in the middle of the month and less wet but at this stage nothing unusual for the time of year.”
