A ROAD has been closed off in both directions after a lorry carrying frozen chickens overturned.

A police spokeswoman said the incident happened on the A144 near Wenhaston at 3.40pm today.

Although the frozen chickens were not strewn across the carriageway, police said the road has to remain closed until all of the chickens have been removed from the lorry and the vehicle can then be recovered.

The Highways Agency has been called to organise diversions.

The ambulance service and fire brigade was also alerted to the incident but details of injuries were unknown.
