WEST End star Ruthie Henshall visited a Suffolk hospice to meet patients and launch the charity's latest fundraiser.
The popular Dancing on Ice judge was on hand at St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich yesterday to promote this year's Midnight Walk, which is happening on May 23.
She said: “I was one of those people who thought a hospice was a place where people came to die. But it is so inspiring - people come to live with whatever it is that is ailing them.
“There are so many therapies and support for the families. It is wonderful. It's a really uplifting place - people are painting, playing music, making books of their life with photographs. It's full of people able to do things that they perhaps haven't done since they were younger.”
St Elizabeth Hospice is hoping around 1,000 women will take part in the eight mile Midnight Walk, which follows a circular route around Ipswich.
Ruthie added: “Hopefully we can get as many people as possible to take part. I'd love to do it myself but because of working commitments I'm not sure if I'm available, although I would like to try and rearrange.”

Patsy Johnson, events co-ordinator at St Elizabeth, said last year's event was a great success.
“The atmosphere was fantastic and everyone had a great time,” she said. “This year there will also be attractions along the route to keep you smiling and entertained.
“Most women will know of a family member or friend who has been touched by St Elizabeth Hospice and there is something very special about a group of women joining together for a common cause.”
