The West Mersea Lifeboat helped the skipper of the yacht Aldebarn as the vessel was dragging its anchor in the River Blackwater.
The RNLI crew then towed the yacht to a mooring in Mersea Quarters.
The South Woodham Coastguard Team kept the boat under observation.
Crews were called to the scene at 7.34am yesterday.
