A FORMER MP for West Suffolk has been selected for a peerage.
Richard Spring was elected MP for Bury St Edmunds in 1992, and following a wholesale boundary change in 1997, became Tory candidate for the new West Suffolk seat.
He stood down at the 2010 General Election.
It has also been announced today that Sir Michael Lord, who was previously MP for Suffolk Central and Ipswich North, has been selected for a peerage, as well as writer and broadcaster Dame Joan Bakewell DBE.
