A new Saturday morning children’s club at a west Suffolk library will combine fun crafts with learning about animals and how to look after the environment.

Planet Library, run by Nicki Dixon, will launch on September 29 at Sudbury Library and is aimed at five to 11-year-olds.

The sessions, from 10am-noon each Saturday, will feature a different theme each week and children can read about different animals and environments as well as enjoy different crafts, including mask and game making and poster designing.

A fun first task on launch day will be to design a logo for the new club.

Nicki said: “The best way to get children to appreciate the world around them and beyond where they live is for them to have fun, to make things they can take home, to explore their gardens and playgrounds and to discover the natural wonders of the planet through books.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun with paper, card, pencils, pipe cleaners, lots of imagination and I can’t wait to get started.”

Gareth Lewry, Sudbury Library manager, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to engage with youngsters and develop knowledge of the world around them all from the convenience of their local library.”

There are 12 spaces available which have to be booked in advance and the cost per session is £2 per child.
