It is one of Suffolk’s picture perfect market towns and a regular feature in “best places to live” guides.
But a recent spate of crime in Framlingham has led to some less savoury descriptions.
Town councillor Stephanie Bennell said it was like the “Wild West” after hearing the latest crime figures for April, when 11 were recorded; including four under the category “violent and sexual offences”.
While the total is a far cry from the 5,419 in Westminster that month, it was up on the seven Framlingham had seen in April 2015.
Miss Bennell said: “It seems like the Wild West.
“That’s quite a lot of activity.”
Councillor Bob Roberts raised further concerns, saying he had seen a young man “screaming” after being bitten by a dog.
“I don’t want to be alarmist, but there seems to be a growing problem with dog attacks,” he said.
Council chairman James Tanner suggested councillors could raise their concerns with their Safer Neighbourhood Team.
