WHERSTEAD: A woman was lucky to escape uninjured after her car ended up the wrong side of the banks of the River Orwell.
Her red Renault Clio came off The Strand in Wherstead at 9.30pm on Saturday, ending up on the marshy banks by the water.
The car’s roof was badly dented and the glass in the windscreen and windows were shattered.
A Suffolk police spokeswoman said: “The single vehicle accident was called in by one of our PCSOs who had come across a lady who ran her car off the road.
“Fortunately she was not injured and her insurance company were due to recover the vehicle.”
