POLICE set up diversions after a serious incident on The Strand in Wherstead.
Officers closed the area after being alerted at 12.10pm today.
It is understood that a person has fallen from the Orwell Bridge, with a police spokesman confirming that a man had been pronounced dead at the scene.
Motorists travelling from the Shotley peninsula were advised to travel through Holbrook and drivers travelling into the peninsula from Ipswich are travelling through Brantham.
The road was re-open and diverstions were cancelled at 2.20pm.
