SPEEDWAY: Ipswich Witches look destined to ride in the Premier League in 2011 after reports that Birmingham are to move up to the Elite League.
The decision of the Midlands-based club opens the way for the Witches, who had applied to join the lower league, to be accepted.
The move will end a 20-year association with top flight speedway at Foxhall Stadium with Ipswich riding in the lower league in 1989 and 1990 - the first two years of John Louis’ promotional reign.
Reports also suggest that Stoke will ride in the National League and that Ipswich-based Scott Nicholls will ride for Eastbourne next season.
