IPSWICH Witches have moved quickly to secure the services of 21-year-old Dane Morten Risager to cover for injured skipper Leigh Lanham.

Lanham is expected to be out for a further month, recovering from his hand operation following his crash in the Foxhall opener against the Lakeside Hammers.

Risager joins the Witches on a month's loan from Swindon Robins with an Elite League average of 4.42.

Commenting on his surprise call up for the Witches, Risager said: “I am just looking forward to racing, being left out of the Elite League this year has just made me more determined to show the British public what I can do.

“I will be aiming to perform well enough to secure a team place for the rest of the season in the Elite League.”

Witches Manager Peter Simmons expressed his pleasure at going in to April with a full team saying: “With Morten on board for the next month it takes the pressure off both the reserves and Tobi who would have taken the rider replacement rides.”
