FIRE crews were called to a four-vehicle collision on the A12 on Thursday afternoon.
Three appliances from Witham, Coggeshall and Tiptree attended the scene on the A12 southbound between Witham South and Hatfield Peveral at 12.30pm.
There were reports of smoke coming out of a vehicle but on arrival crews found there were no signs of fire and nobody was trapped.
Two women who sustained minor injuries were treated by an East of England Ambulance crew at the scene.
Police were also called to deal with traffic and long delays which built up as a result of the accident.
The road has now been cleared.
