Two boys have been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery in Witham.

The alleged attack happened when two individuals entered the betting shop Ladbrokes in Newland Street shortly before 10pm on January 7 and assaulted a female member of staff before running out, empty-handed.

On Monday, January 13, police issued CCTV images of two men who were being sought after in connection with the crime.

Two days later, two boys from Witham, aged 15 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of committing attempted robbery.

They were later released on police bail until April 7 pending further enquiries.
