Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted and had his late grandmother’s watch stolen off him in Colchester.

Christopher White, who is in his 20s and from Dedham, was assaulted at the junction of Crouch Street and Head Street at about 3.20am on November 2 following a night out.

There are a number of people who Essex Police believe may be responsible, but the main suspect for the assault is described as a white man, 6ft tall and of athletic build.

Mr White was left with multiple cuts and grazes and had his iPhone and his late grandmother’s Rolex watch stolen.

The phone was later recovered by a member of the public, but the watch, thought to be worth £3,000, is still missing.

Any witnesses should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
