Detectives are appealing for information after a woman alleged she had been assaulted in Colchester.

A 27-year-old, who lives in the town, told police she was accosted by a man next to LA Fitness on Clarendon Way between 1 and 2am on Friday.

Although, the woman sustained severe leg injuries, police are unclear as to how she was attacked.

Investigating Officer, DI Jim Caulfield, said: “At this stage, we don't have any other information.

“We've looked through CCTV and know there were a lot of people in the area, especially motorists.

“There could have been late-night revellers or even late-night commuters returning home.

“Clarendon Way is a cul-de-sac with blocks of flats as well as the fitness centre on it.

“We're hoping that someone can help us with this investigation.”

Anyone with information in connection with this assault allegation is urged to contact detectives at Colchester police station on 0300 333 4444.
