A woman in her 70s left trapped in a car after crashing into a ditch in Suffolk has been taken to hospital.

Emergency services were called to reports that a white Volkswagen was involved in a single-vehicle collision in Rendham Road in Sibton, near Yoxford, at around 5.15pm this evening.

The car ended up in a ditch and the driver, a woman aged in her 70s, was trapped, a Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said.

Four fire engines were called as part of the emergency services’ response.

She was rescued from the vehicle and taken to hospital as a precautionary measure for a check-up, the force spokesman said.
