A WOMAN has appeared in court charged with the murder of a missing teenager.

A WOMAN has appeared in court charged with the murder of a missing teenager.

Maria Chandler, 40, of Lancaster Road, Yarmouth, appeared before the town's magistrates today accused of murdering Simon Everitt.

Chandler spoke only to confirm her name, address and date of birth and was remanded in custody until she appears at Norwich Crown Court on July 14. Her solicitor Rob New made no application for bail.

A body believed to be that of Mr Everitt, 17, was discovered on farmland at Mautby, near Yarmouth, on Saturday morning. Formal identification will take place after a post mortem examination is carried out later today.

A full-scale murder inquiry was launched by police about a week after the Yarmouth College student disappeared on June 7.

Two men aged 19 and 24 were also arrested on suspicion of murder and remain on police bail.
