An elderly woman called police after finding a burglar searching through her belongings at her home in Harwich.
The woman, aged in her 90s, found a man going through her bedroom drawer at her house off Gravel Hill Way.
After being challenged, the suspect fled with a television and a purse containing a three-figure sum of cash.
Essex Police says officers are continuing to support the victim.
