Woman injured as vehicle careers off A12 northbound in Witham

Firefighters worked to free a woman trapped in a vehicle after it careered off a dual carriageway in Essex.

The collision happened on the A12 northbound in Witham shortly before 2pm today.

Paramedics treated one woman who had suffered a leg injury.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said the woman was taken to Broomfield Hospital for further care.

Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service sent three crews: one each from Witham, Tiptree and Chelmsford.

A brigade spokesman said: “The road traffic collision involved one vehicle which had left the roadway.

“Fire crews worked with paramedics to help release one woman trapped in the vehicle.

“The casualty was released by 3.30pm and left in the care of the ambulance service.”
