AN elderly woman has been subjected to a bizarre but frightening ordeal by burglars who confronted her in her own home.

The victim discovered a man and a woman standing in her hallway at about 4.20pm on Saturday afternoon at her home in Elizabeth Way, Eye.

She spoke briefly to the pair before the female kissed her on the cheek and they walked out of the house through the front door.

The victim discovered later that her handbag had been taken but managed to provide police with good descriptions of the burglars.

The female suspect is described as white, aged in her 40s, about 5ft 5ins tall, of a large build with short light brown hair and was wearing a beige hat and dark clothing.

The man is described as being white, also in his 40s, shorter than the female, of an average build and was wearing a beige hat and jacket.

A neighbour reported seeing a suspicious silver Peugeot 206 nearby at the time with foreign number plates including a red and white cross on the rear plate.

Any witnesses or anyone with information about this crime can speak to Detective Constable Duncan Etchells of Stowmarket CID on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
