A PENSIONER who died following a collision in Bury St Edmunds has today been named.

A PENSIONER who died following a collision in Bury St Edmunds has today been named.

Joan Pointer, of Rougham Road, Bury St Edmunds, died of her injuries at West Suffolk Hospital yesterday.

Police were contacted by the ambulance service at just after 4pm on Tuesday, after the 87-year-old woman was in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Zafira and ended up trapped beneath the car.

Emergency service workers freed her from under the car and took her to hospital - where she later died.

A collision investigation is underway and police are appealing for any witnesses to contact PC Roy Dade at the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Police Headquarters on 01473 613500.
