Part of Woodbridge’s iconic riverside is up for sale with an asking price of over £1 million.

The Woodbridge Boat Yard, which sits on the town’s River Wall has been put up for sale.

The yard plot sit at over 3,000 sq ft and includes 1.85 acres of “valuable boat storage land”.

Up for sale is a wide range of assets on the site as well as the yard itself including a timber workshop, offices and other temporary buildings.

Cranes, tractors, trailers, workshop machinery and a workboat are also included in the sale.

The sale would also include the lease agreements fo

r 60 swing moorings, three pontoons and a slipway which are all used at the yard.

All these are on a 15 year lease from the Crown.

The yard’s listing boasts its financial success, describing it as “consistently profitable” with its turnover being stated as between £165,000 and £180,000 over the past 10 years thanks to “its popularity as a high convenient boatyard and base”.

The site is currently run by The Woodbridge Boatyard Limited, formerly known as Everson & Sons.

The yard previously had planning permission to replace the current buildings with a mixed use development to be built into the river wall.

The development would have had three floors and incorporates a general storage area in a basement, three retail or office units at the river wall and three residential flats on the 2nd floor.

The flats will have balconies and what the agents describe as “open views across the River Deben”.

However, this permission has since lapsed.

It is not the first time the site has been put up for sale, having previously been listed in 2014.
