An elderly mobility scooter rider was thrown from her vehicle and injured during a crash in Woodbridge this afternoon.

The woman, thought to be in her 80s, was found lying in the road after her scooter collided with a Toyota Yaris on Quayside shortly before 3pm.

Police closed the road near Budgens for a short time around 3pm while paramedics were called to take the injured pensioner for an assessment.

“She sustained only minor injuries so no further treatment was required,” a spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said.

Witnesses are asked to contact the police on 101.
